Fantasy and Fiction refers to act of painting as travelling from physical territories (the landscape) and into invention, (making something out of nothing). These paintings began within the confines of an imagined interior space, and I was looking at the way Francis Bacon framed figures in space. I sometimes consider paintings as a room in which I am configuring the space and with these paintings decided to double down on this idea and introduce a secondary structure/signifier of a room, within the primary structure or edges of the canvas; into which the painting would start.
All are sized 100x95cm
