Chasing the tides of Ynys Môn 2024

A series of paintings responding to the coastline of Ynys Môn, Anglesey following a residency in early 2024.

For this project, I was interested in the idea of the island where time feels specific to the give and take of the tide. Because these paintings are about a specific place, my paintings have taken a new direction, and I have played around with perspective as well as abstraction and I have brought much more of the drawing into the paintings – the drawing itself is as much the subject as the sea itself.
